Unorthodox is a German miniseries loosely based on Deborah Feldman's autobiographical novel "Unorthdodox: The Scandalous Rejection of my Hasidic Roots". Esther "Esty" (played on screen by the stunning Shira Haas) grows up in the Satmar Jewish community. An insular community rose in Brooklyn from the ashes of the Second World War.A community in which Etsy is struggling to find meaning in her existence...This film is a real cinematic nugget that takes the form of an initiatory story. The search for oneself in a world whose codes are unknown to her.
